WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – Trumbull County residents have the chance to build a backyard oasis for a little bit of nothing.

The Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership restarted its side-lot incentive program on Wednesday, in partnership with the Trumbull County Land Reutilization Corporation (Land Bank). Huntington Bank presented a $10,000 check to help fund the program during an open house event.

The Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership said it wants people to buy neighboring properties at a big discount and then fix them up as side yards. They also can get a $250 Lowe’s gift card to purchase tools, materials and supplies needed to make improvements to their new side lots.

Homeowners in Trumbull County are currently able to acquire a side lot, if made available via tax foreclosure, through the Land Bank. Side lots may be acquired for a small fee, often as little as $200.
