Sharpsville, PA (WYTV) – The Blue Devils have won more games than any other team in the Valley over the past two years. Their District 10 dominance is just as impressive. They’ve made it to 5 straight D-10 Title games. That tradition continues this season with a new group poised to make their own mark on the program.
Head coach Paul Piccirilli is back for a 21st season. He said the offseason has been one of the best his team has ever had. The Blue Devils have 48 players, but just 7 returning starters. The big concern comes in the trenches with just one returning lineman on both sides of the ball.
Sophomore Jaquay Hubbard is the great equalizer though. He’s 6 foot 6, 320 pounds, and that’s after dropping a hundred pounds this offseason. He’ll pave the way for 4 year starter Luke Henwood at QB. Piccirilli calls him a “coach on the field.”
The passing game will be a strength with senior Marquise Altman on the outside. The defense should be good again after ranking 1st in the area last year, allowing just 11 points per game.
The Blue Devils will compete in a new Region 2 this season. They went 6-0 in league play last season and finished the regular season with a perfect 10-0 record.
Hickory and Sharon are back on the schedule. Both are Region Games now, as the Devils go for their 6th straight District Final appearance.
