LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WYTV) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol says the driver of a vehicle that hit a tractor trailer on Interstate 80 had been drinking prior to the accident.
According to the Patrol, Adeina D. Biblis, 22, of Sharon, was traveling west on I-80 at about 11:05 p.m. Tuesday when she lost control and hit a tractor traveling in the same direction. Biblis slid off the road, into the median, and overturned.
When Biblis struck the semi, a fuel tank ruptured, causing about 10 gallons of diesel fuel to spill. The Trumbull County Hazmat team was called to clean up the spill.
One lane of the interstate was closed for about an hour and a half while crews cleared the scene.
Biblis suffered non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the semi, Robert Bryant, 58, of Canton, was not injured.
Troopers confirmed that alcohol was a factor in the crash. Biblis was charged with operating a vehicle while impaired and failure to maintain control.
