EAST PALESTINE, Ohio (WYTV) – The Village of East Palestine officially cut the ribbon on some new art work on a village building.
A ceremony recognizes the work of artist Gina Hampson. Her creation is on the Cornerstone Insurance Building on North Market Street.
The artwork shows images from 1901.
“They gave me a picture of what they wanted done. I did a scale drawing, and it took me about a month to put it on the wall,” Hampson said.
Village managers hope the artwork helps beautify the downtown area and attracts more people. They also want to add several more pieces to the area.
Officials say the mural is a good way for neighbors to see the progress over the past century.
Initial plans for the mural started four years ago.
