ERIE, Pennsylvania (WYTV) – A strong balanced attack from McDowell got the Trojans by Howland, 31-10, in the season opener. McDowell was led by their senior quarterback Levi Becker, who ran in two second half scores (12 yards & 5 yards) and also passed for another in the second quarter (55 yards to Collin Christensen). The Trojans were able to muster 364 yards of total offense, 222 of those coming through the air.

Howland secured their first two pointsof the game on a bad snap which went for a safety in McDowell’s endzone. Tyriq Ellis ran in a touchdown in the fourth quarter to cut the Trojan lead to 24-10 following Jake Lester’s two-point pass to John Andamasaris. The Tigers were able to run for over 100-yards as a team and compile 184 total yards of offense.
The Tigers will open their home schedule with a matchup with Green next week. McDowell will face rival Strong Vincent in a week two showdown.
