Man suffered fatal heart attack before crashing into Perry Twp. house

PERRY TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WYTV) – A physician’s ruling has determined that the driver of a pickup truck that crashed into a house in Perry Township suffered a fatal heart attack.

The accident happened about 6:55 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say Terry L. Metts, 61, of Salem, passed out behind the wheel of the truck he was driving crashed into a home on N. Lincoln Ave. His wife was a passenger in the vehicle.

An autopsy was not conducted, Metts’ physician was able to determined that he had suffered a fatal heart attack prior to losing control of the vehicle.

Metts’ wife suffered minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital.

The house sustained extensive damage, mainly in the garage area. No one inside was injured.
