BOARDMAN, Ohio (WYTV) – The new Boardman Spartans band shell was officially dedicated Friday night during a ceremony before the first kickoff of the season.

The newest addition to the stadium will house the 175 members of the Spartan marching band.

Construction on the band shell began in June and the goal was to have it completed in time for the first game of the season.

“To have a home like this to protect us from the elements is going to be fantastic,” said Director of Bands Thomas Ruggieri. “The lighting in there, the sound that’s going to project, it’s gonna be great.”

The new band shell was built through the donation of Boardman residents Bill and Karen Veri who were welcomed on the field during the dedication.

The project to build the new stadium has been funded through local business and community donations.
