Sharon man charged with thefts, burglary in Hermitage

Dustin Mihalson, 24, is charged with theft, theft from a motor vehicle and persons not to possess firearms

HERMITAGE, Pa. (WYTV) – A Sharon man is jailed on several charges after police said he stole from an unlocked home and several vehicles in Hermitage.

Hermitage Police Chief Eric Jewell said the thefts occurred at a home on Clarksville Road and from several unlocked vehicles in the Victoria Drive and Clarksville Road areas on Thursday. He said the suspect, 24-year-old Dustin Mihalson, took money, a handgun and ammunition.

Police were called after a person coming home saw a man running out of his house. Officers searched the area but were unable to find the suspect.

While assisting probation and parole officers with an unrelated case, police said Mihalson attempted to hide the stolen gun under a couch. Cash was also found in the home, and police said Mihalson admitted to the home burglary and theft of money from nearby vehicles.

He was charged with theft, theft from a motor vehicle and persons not to possess firearms.

Mihalson was arraigned by District Judge Lorinda Hinch and was taken to the Mercer County Jail.
