CANFIELD, Ohio (WYTV) – A fourth down and long conversion with just over two minutes to go helped secure a week one victory for the Liberty Leopards over the Canfield Cardinals.
Jake Cummings scored from 31 yards out to give Canfield an early 7-0 lead over Louisville with 7:30 remaining in the first quarter.
Following a short, one yard TD by Louisville, Cummings found the end zone again to give the Cards a 14-7 lead.
A late Canfield field goal in the second quarter had the Cardinals ahead 17-7 at the halfway point.
A Louisville touchdown pass cut the Canfield lead to 17-14 with just over seven minutes remaining in the game.
With just over two minutes remaining in the game, Louisville found themselves facing fourth and long on their own side of the field. But, they were able to come up with a big play, scoring a 56 yard touchdown that would go on to be the game winner.
Canfield will travel to Alliance in week two.
