BOARDMAN, Ohio (WYTV) – A natural gas leak Thursday morning caused some businesses in Boardman to be evacuated and closed.

The leak started around 9:10 a.m. at 7141 Vineland Place near Route 224, according to Dominion East Ohio Gas.

Dominion said the Youngstown Water Department was digging at the site and struck a 3-inch plastic main line, disrupting service to 27 customers.

Denny’s and The Party Place had to be evacuated and were temporarily closed.

Crews arrived just after 9:30 a.m. and shut the line off. The scene was declared safe by 10:10 a.m.

Dominion crews are making repairs and expect to begin restoring service early Thursday afternoon.
