NILES, Ohio (WYTV) – The Niles Red Dragons rode the momentum from a week one win into a big first half, but couldn’t hold on in a 26-23 defeat to Poland.
Niles QB Tyler Srbinovich picked up right where he left off in week one with a touchdown pass to Tre Martin on the very first play of the game. The 80 yard pass play gave the Dragons a 7-0 in the opening seconds.

Srbinovich extended the lead to 14-0 with a two yard touchdown run later in the quarter.
Following a Poland field goal from Colt McFadden, Niles led 14-3 after one.
Kevin Swegan connected on a 24 yard field goal for the Dragons with 7 minutes remaining in the first half.
Two more McFadden field goals and a short touchdown capped a big third quarter for the Bulldogs. Entering the fourth quarter, Niles clung to a 17-16 lead.
With 8 minutes remaining in the game, a fourth McFadden field goal on the night gave the Bulldogs their first lead of the game 19-17.
A long touchdown run extended that Bulldog lead to 26-17 late in the fourth quarter.
Srbinovich led a late Niles rally, connecting with Marlon Pearson for a nine yard touchdown with just a minute to go to cut it to a three point game. But, an onside kick attempt was unsuccessful and the Bulldogs were able to run out the clock.
Poland (1-1) will host Jefferson in week three. Niles (1-1) will travel to Struthers.
