Salem posts 1st victory; Davidson to Humeniuk scores 3 TDs

HANOVERTON, Ohio (WYTV) – Salem rallied after trailing 14-0 in the second quarter to score the game’s final 40-points and register their first win of the season, 40-14 over United.

The Quakers’ Mitch Davidson tossed three touchdown passes (all to Jake Humeniuk) and compiled 299 yards on 18 of 28 passing. Humeniuk caught 6 balls for 139 yards. Chase Ackerman also was a beneficiary of Davidson’s passing by hauling in 4 passes for 75 yards. Cooper Bezeredi scored two late touchdowns (4 on the season) as he rushed for 74 stripes on 12 carries.

The Golden Eagles were led once again by their running back Cade Wood, who tallied 106 yards on 18 attempts (2 TDs). Wood now has run for 300 yards this season (5 TDs). United’s quarterback Colton Graham posted 94 yards on the ground as well.

Salem (1-1) will play their first home game of the season when they meet East Liverpool in week three. The Golden Eagles (1-1) will travel to Lisbon to take on the Blue Devils next Friday.
