YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – If you drive down Ohio Avenue in Youngstown, you might see rubber tires in the shape of a butterfly.

It’s all part of a new butterfly park. Around 12-14 kids ranging from ages from 10-13 came together to create the garden on land from the Mahoning County Land Bank.

Youngstown’s Know Your Neighbor Block Watch received a Youth Greening Grant from the University of Michigan to teach kids about landscaping.

“Even though they were planting flowers, they were learning what they planted, they were learning flowers native to this part of Ohio and also butterflies which are native to this part of Ohio,” said Joyce Davidson, executive director of the Ohio Avenue Butterfly Project.

The team celebrated the opening with the local fire department with music, food and games.
