YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Youngstown Nation, a store that helped start the revitalization of the downtown area, has closed.
The store specialized in items like t-shirts, books and household decorations that promoted Youngstown.
The storefront on N. Phelps Street is now empty after owner Phil Kidd moved everything out over the weekend.
Kidd ran Youngstown Nation out of the location for the past four years.
“Fortunately, about a year and a half ago, I was hired full-time at Youngstown Cityscape, so my life kind of changed and so now I work full-time there,” he said. “I’ve only been able to be at the store on Saturday afternoons for just about four or five hours.”
With no time to dedicate to the physical store itself, Kidd decided to close it. His products can still be purchased on Youngstown Nation’s website.
