Youngstown Police sergeant recovering from electrical shock

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – A Youngstown Police sergeant who got shocked by a downed electrical wire over the weekend is recovering.

Sgt. Bill Ward was released from a burn unit at Akron Children’s Hospital, and police say he is now at home and doing well.

The power line shocked Ward while he was working the scene of a fatal crash on Bennington Avenue. The vehicle involved in the accident crashed into two utility poles before hitting a tree and splitting in half.

The victim in the crash was identified Tuesday as 28-year-old John Cruz-Carino.
