More OTC meds means more responsibility for patients

One big factor is how over the counter medications (OTC) interact with other pills a patient may be taking

A survey finds people don't consider all medications taken when using OTC medications.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – A new survey finds many people disregard important safety factors medical professionals say are critical to choosing the most appropriate meds for your health.

One big factor is how over the counter medications (OTC) interact with other pills a patient may be taking. The best way to become better informed is to read and understand the information on OTC labels. Next to the medicine itself, label comprehension is the most important part of self-care with OTC medicines.

And when it comes to medicines, more does not mean necessarily mean better. Never take medications longer or in higher dosages than the label recommends.

BUYING AND USING OTC MEDICATIONS SAFELY.
