Nugget of Knowledge: Movie flubs

In the 1940s-era in which The Godfather takes place, there are a few out-of-place men

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Here is a list of bloopers and mistakes in popular movies throughout the years:

1. BACK TO THE FUTURE (1985)

Marty McFly, stuck in 1955, plays a Gibson ES-345 guitar. That wasn’t around until 1958.

2. THE HURT LOCKER (2009)

Set in 2004, a solider in Iraq says a local man filming him is “getting ready to put me on YouTube.” YouTube didn’t get its start until 2005, and we see an iPod Touch — that’s not until 2007.

3. THE GODFATHER (1972)

In a scene where Michael Corleone goes to Las Vegas in the 1940s, you can see a few distinctly out-of-place men hanging out in the background. They look like hippies.

4. BRAVEHEART (1995)

Mel Gibson wears a kilt in the 13th century. It was unknown before the 18th century.

5.THE UNTOUCHABLES (1987)

The Canadian flag design with the maple leaf painted on the side of some wooden crates shouldn’t have been there. That wasn’t a Canadian symbol until 1965. The Untouchables takes place in the 1930s.

6. GLADIATOR (2002)

In the big battle scene that kicks off Gladiator, Maximus has a dog, a German shepherd. German shepherds didn’t come into existence as a breed until the late 1800s.
