Warren woman unknowingly sells phone for fake $100 bill

WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – A Warren woman was duped on Sunday in an attempt to sell her cell phone.

According to a police report, she met a male that she knew from Facebook at Circle K on North Park Avenue to sell her Apple 5S cell phone. The woman then gave the phone to the man in exchange for what she thought was a $100 bill.

However, police said when she went into the store to use the bill, the woman was informed by a clerk that the bill was fake and read “FOR MOTION PICTURE USE ONLY.” The man was already gone by then.

The woman then returned home and called police. The fake bill was taken in as evidence.
