LIBERTY, Ohio (WYTV) – The large Metroplex Complex that corners Motor Inn Drive and Belmont Avenue in Liberty will be reopening next month.

Universal Development bought the building in March of 2015 and plans to use it to take on a new chapter in the entertainment and convention business. The development company will turn a portion of the complex into an expo center complete with a newly renovated ballroom, meeting rooms and a courtyard patio.

The first events there have already been scheduled, and they’re taking bookings for the remainder of this year and into 2017.

The company is also in the process of converting the hotel into a new self-storage center.

Liberty Township Administrator Pat Ungaro says Universal is doing a great job and getting the renovations done quickly.

“Potential is unlimited. Sky’s the limit right now, so I’m excited about this.”

Officials plan to cut the ribbon on the Metroplex Expo Center on October 5 from 12 to 2 p.m., where guests will have the opportunity to tour the facility.
