The old Youngstown church will become a brewery and tap house.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – An old church two blocks north of downtown Youngstown will become a brewery and tap room in the near future.

Butler Memorial Presbyterian Church is located on E. Rayen Avenue, a block from the MVR restaurant. It was built in the early 1920s.

The brewery and tap house will be called Noble Creature Cask House, and also serve bagels and appetizers.

Owner Ira Gerhart says he hopes to have it open next spring.

Youngstown City Council considered legislation Wednesday night to give Gerhart a $12,000 grant to help pay for the interior plumbing.
