HOWLAND, Ohio (WYTV) – Amanda Beagle is best known as the former Miss Ohio from Howland. Since competing, she’s traveled the world singing on cruise ships and now lives in New York City.
Beagle has returned home for the unveiling of her new album of Italian songs, called Italian American Songbook.
“My mother’s side of the family is actually Italian, so Italy and I, we go way back. I studied Italian and opera in college and ever since it’s just been a love of mine and a passion, so I decided to create this album,” Beagle said.
She then reflected on how she picked the songs that were to go on the album.
“Some of them are songs I remember my grandparents playing, some of them my parents would play in the house. And so we have traditional Italian songs and then more 50s and 60s pop like Connie Francis, Dean Martin, Rosemary Clooney,” Beagle said. “They’re not all in Italian, some are in all English, some are in all Italian and then some are in English and Italian.”
Beagle is now planning a dinner and show in Howland where people can hear her sing live.
“I really wanted to have a celebration for all of this hard work. Several people from the community actually sponsored this project. So we’re going to have a beautiful evening, a dinner and show at Leo’s Banquet Center in Howland. It’s Friday, September 30. Folks can visit my website at amandabeagle.com to get all the information, and you’re going to hear all the songs from the album, have a fantastic Italian dinner and we’re going to have a lot of fun,” she said.
The event begins at 6:30 p.m. and is $40 for adults and $37.50 for seniors and students.
