CANFIELD, Ohio (WYTV) – Free Identi-kits are going home this week to new kindergarten students in the Canfield Local School District.
The Canfield Police Department has been providing free kits to the school district through the program for three years.
When students bring in a signed permission slip, they get their fingerprints taken. There is also space on the kit for medical information.
The idea is to have the information available for police, just in case it’s ever needed.
“Three years ago, when we started this, we did all the kids from kindergarten through fourth grade. Since then, each year, we do the incoming kindergarten class, as well as any new students to the district,” said School Resource Officer Steve Garstka.
The goal is to send home an identi-kit for every student in the district.
