NEWTON FALLS, Ohio (WYTV) – Entering tonight’s matchup, Champion had averaged 316 yards of total offense per game this season. Tonight, the Golden Flashes were held to just 119 but still won their hard-fought outing with Newton Falls, 14-6.

The Golden Flash quarterback Brandon Allen combined for each of the team’s scores (44-yard touchdown pass to Jerry Sabo and a 51-yard TD run). Allen was held to a season-low 4 completions. Allen led the team with 20 yards rushing. Nate Stahlman finished with 13 yards rushing on 11 attempts. Carter Mast caught a pair of passes (28 yards).

Champion forced two turnovers and held Newton Falls to 223 yards of total offense.

The Tigers’ Braden Bungard scored the team’s only touchdown as he closed out the game with 16 yards. Bill Wright led Newton Falls’ ground game with 62 yards (14 carries) and Jordan Edmondson had 43 stripes on the ground. Edmondson completed a pass to Colton Hunt for 54 yards. Hunt finished the game as the Tigers’ top pass catcher with 2 receptions for 65 yards.
