LIBERTY, Ohio (WYTV) – Troopers asking drivers to be careful on the roadways after three accidents involving tractor-trailers on Interstate 80.
Ohio State Highway Patrol said the semi drivers in two of the crashes — in Hubbard and a crash in Liberty that caused a large fire — went off the side of the roadway. Another driver in Liberty Township Thursday night hydroplaned after heavy rain and flipped over.
Highway Patrol said it’s important for drivers to slow down and be aware, especially in construction zones. Troopers said drivers need to understand even the slightest deviation can lead to really big problems.
“Throughout the summer months, we see so much construction, we all become accustomed to it, and we tend to take it lightly. We become invisible, everything will be OK, and it only takes a split second of not paying attention for there to be bad news,” said Highway Patrol Lt. Brian Holt.
As clean up work on Interstate 80 continues, traffic patterns are going to change.
