6th Ward Citizen’s Coalition puts on festive day, raises awareness

President Dario Hunter said the event helps with a bigger picture than just the need for school supplies, which were given out

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – The 6th Ward Citizen’s Coalition held a “Southside YouthFest” in Youngstown Saturday.

The event featured plenty for kids and families to enjoy — from face painting, to bounce houses and even a video game truck. School supplies were given out as well.

6th Ward Citizens Coalition President Dario Hunter said the event helps with a bigger picture than just the need for school supplies.

“We are in a ward, 6th Ward, where we unfortunately don’t have many parks or playgrounds,” he said. “So I think this is a well-needed day of recreation for families in the 6th Ward.”

Hunter said that events like Saturday’s are part of the long-term goal of the 6th Ward Citizens Coalition, which is to help improve quality of living in the ward and to help feel connected and invested in the community.
