LORDSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Lordstown High School’s Political History Club is heavily involved in educating its students about politics.

Students attend political rallies, meet candidates, and they even attended the conventions this summer. Monday, the club invited the delegates that participated in those conventions to the school.

Senator Joe Schiavoni also attended the event. The delegates talked about how they were selected and what it was like attending the conventions.

“It was a very busy couple of days, but it was one that I won’t forget,” Schiavoni said. “Hopefully, I can bring my family next time.”

Craig Bonar, alternative GOP delegate, said the convention was tireless.

“It was like being in Las Vegas,” he said. “I would compare that to Vegas, where you’re up 24 hours a day, seven… you know, for the whole time.”

Next week, the club is hosting a Candidate’s Night. The forum will feature candidates running for state representative and state Senate.

That event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the high school.
