YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – A man from Youngstown is charged with theft and carrying a concealed weapon after he was caught with a bag full of sex toys and adult items police say he took from an adult store.

Officers were called about 10 p.m. Sunday to the Adult Mart on Market Street on reports of a theft.

The clerk, described in the report as a romance specialist, told officers that a man walked in and asked where several items were located in the store. He found the items, loaded them up in his arms and walked out. according to a police report.

Some of the items taken include DVDs, sexual enhancement devices, ointments, over 50 magazines and other items.

While an officer was typing the report in his patrol car, he spotted a man matching the description the clerk gave him walking on Market Street. Police stopped the man, identified as 48-year-old Todd Thornton. Police said Thornton was carrying a bag full of the items that were described as missing in the theft. Thornton told police he found the items, according to the report.

Police also recovered a set of brass knuckles in Thornton’s pocket.

Thornton was arrested and charged with theft and carrying a concealed weapon. He was arraigned Monday where bond was set at $5,000. He is scheduled back in court Oct. 19.
