St. Christine’s School put on lockdown after man found trespassing

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – St. Christine’s School in Youngstown was put on lockdown Tuesday after a man was found hiding behind a dumpster during recess.

According to a police report, the principal and others chased 35-year-old Elias Bray away from the back of the building on S. Schenley Avenue as children were coming out for recess. School officials then sent the kids back inside for a lockdown.

Police said a gym teacher saw Bray first on the football field, before he went to hide behind the school.

When officers arrived, they chased Bray through a wooded area. They arrested him in the parking lot of the Normandy apartments on Canfield Road.

Bray told officers that he is homeless and has a drug problem, according to the police report.

Police said there are several “No Trespassing” signs posted on the school’s property.

Bray is charged with criminal trespass and inducing panic.
