POLAND, Ohio (WYTV) – An award-winning author visited McKinley Elementary School in Poland on Wednesday.

Nora Raleigh Baskin talked to kids about her new book, “Nine, ten: A September 11 Story.”

Baskin is an author who writes books for primarily for middle school-aged kids. She says her latest book — told through the stories of four children — is an attempt to help young people understand the impact of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2011.

“They weren’t even alive when 9/11 happened. They don’t even remember it, and yet, it affected their entire lives. It forms who they are. They’re growing up in a post-9/11 world,” she said.

“Nine, ten” is Baskin’s 13th book release. The Brooklyn native says she was actually inspired to write it after seeing a movie about Robert Kennedy and thinking of the impact his death had on her generation.
