YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Crews repaired a water line that broke early Thursday morning.

Workers were called about 4:30 a.m. to South Avenue, near Midlothian Boulevard after water started pouring into the street. The water main was being turned back on Thursday afternoon to restore service.

Crews said the break was likely due to old pipes.

A boil alert has been issued for South Avenue, from Midlothian Boulevard to Palmer Avenue in Youngstown. It affects a few homes and businesses, which were notified with door hangers, according to the Youngstown Water Department.

The Water Department will be taking samples Friday to determine if the water is safe to drink.
