Mass casualty response drill scheduled at West Middlesex High School

The county warned residents not to be alarmed during the drill, scheduled from 8 to 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. (WYTV) – The West Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department, along with more than a dozen other participating agencies, will be holding a mass casualty response drill on Monday.

From 8 to 11 a.m., first responders will be at West Middlesex Area Junior-Senior High School to practice emergency response related to a fire incident with casualties.

Participating agencies include Mercer County Department of Public Safety, Hermitage Fire Department, American Red Cross, Salvation Army, Mercer County Animal Response Team, Shenango Township Volunteer Fire Department, Shenango Township Police Department, West Middlesex School District, McGonigle Ambulance Service, Elite Ambulance Service, Sharon Regional Health System, STAT Medevac (Air Ambulance Service), Mercer County Behavioral Health Commission, UPMC Horizon and Mercer County Emergency Services Committee.

There will be smoke and a large number of rescue crews, according to Mercer County Public Information Officer Jeff Greenburg. He said residents should not be alarmed.
