Rushton, McKinney lead Liberty’s offense past Champion

Liberty is matched against Jefferson at home in week eight.

WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – Dra Rushton and Jaylen McKinney both gained over 100-yards rushing as Liberty outscored Champion 18-0 in the second half enroute to their 25-14 win. The Leopards now improve to 4-3 and 3-1 in the Blue Tier.

Rushton led the Leopards with 209 yards on 19 rushes (2 TDs) while McKinney gained 131 yards on 28 attempts (2 TDs). Liberty ran the ball 54 times compared to just 4 pass plays.

Champion’s Noah Bayus opened the scoring in the contest with a 61-yard scamper for six only 22 seconds into the game. Bayus caught 4 passes (20 yards), ran the ball 4 times (48 yards), and completed a pass for 30-yards to Jerry Sabo. The Golden Flashes’ quarterback Brandon Allen threw for 41 yards and also gained 46 stripes on the ground.
