YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Over 500 people in the area are known to have HIV/AIDS. And more than 300 of those people get help from the Ursuline Sisters HIV/AIDS Ministry at the Ursuline Center in Youngstown.

Saturday morning, the HIV/AIDS Ministry held a fundraiser to help their cause — the second annual Nun Run. Participants came out for a 5K kids fun-run and a one-mile walk.

Brigid Kennedy of the Ursuline Sisters said that the money helps, but knowledge could help even more.

“Some of the misconceptions are that it’s very easy to get HIV casually or just from being around someone with HIV and that is not the case,” said Brigid Kennedy of the Ursuline Sisters HIV/AIDS Ministry.

This year, the Nun Run saw more than 150 participants.
