Garrettsville man dies while helping with hurricane cleanup in Fla.

VOLUSIA CO., Fla. (WYTV) – A Garrettsville, Ohio man was killed Monday while helping with the Hurricane Matthew cleanup efforts in Florida.

Steven Barna, 47, was working for the Falls Tree Company out of Chagrin Falls. His crew was clearing debris and downed trees around 6 p.m. in the Halifax Plantation community near Ormond Beach.

According to police, Barna died after a large log rolled on top of him and pinned him underneath.

Someone saw him and called for help. Co-workers pulled the log off Barna and another witness performed CPR, but it was too late.

Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
