YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Eddie DeBartolo, Jr., who was enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in August, will be honored Wednesday in a ceremony at his alma mater, Cardinal Mooney High School.
Representatives from the Pro Football Hall of Fame and Ford Motor Company will present DeBartolo with a Hometown Hall of Famers Award.
The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. in the gym and will be officiated by WKBN 27 First News sports reporter Chad Krispinsky, who is also a Mooney graduate.
DeBartolo will be honored for his contributions to professional football and Cardinal Mooney.
He graduated from the school in 1964 and was inducted into Mooney’s hall of fame in the ’90s.
DeBartolo owned the 49ers from 1977 to 2000. During that time, the team won five Super Bowls and made ten NFC Championship appearances.
