LEAVITTSBURG, Ohio (WYTV) – Carlton Brown’s 2-yard plunge on the first play of the fourth quarter was the difference as LaBrae clinched at least a tie of the All-American Conference Blue Tier with their 20-14 win tonight over Brookfield. Brown threw for 195 yards, which was the third time in the last five weeks he passed for over 190 yards in a game.
The Vikings’ saw three of their pass catchers finish the game with over 45 yards receiving. Tariq Drake hauled in 3 passes for 68 yards (TD). Benton Tennant had a pair of catches for 56 yards and Walton Allie brought in a pass which was for 46 stripes. Arjay Oliver led the Vikings’ ground game with 61 yards on 10 totes (TD).
If LaBrae defeats Girard next week, they’ll be the unbeaten (in the Blue Tier) league champs. If the Vikings lose, Liberty will have to win next week at Newton Falls and beat Girard in week ten to share the title.
For Brookfield (5-3), the Warriors featured two 100-yard rushers in Alex Clark (120) and Xavier Bailey (113). Each scored a first half touchdown. Bailey completed 3 of 9 passes for 28 yards. The Warriors outgained LaBrae in total offense, 293-277.
