AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – The Austintown Junior Women’s League hosted an event to donate hair to the charity on Saturday.

Donors had to give at least 10 inches of unbleached hair to help make a hair piece.

For those who gave less than ten inches, that hair is sold to to help with creating the hair pieces. One of the women’s league members said this isn’t the first time she’s donated her hair.

“I was a high school teacher and some of the teachers and students at school would do it now and then,” Peggy Bennett said. “And I looked into it. I did it one other time and I figured if I can’t make the monetary donation, then I can do something that will benefit with the hair.”

The women’s league also had a bake sale at the event, with all of the money raised going to Locks of Love.
