WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – Warren police are looking for a man who they say assaulted and robbed a woman Monday.

The victim was walking her dog along Austin Avenue around 9:30 a.m. when the man came up to her. She said she’d seen him several times before at the post office at Austin and W. Market Street.

He asked her for a cigarette and phone but when she denied both, grabbed her neck to restrain her, according to police.

She told officers that he bent her over and said, “This will only take a minute.” The woman was able to resist him by scratching his face and screaming.

Police said he grabbed a necklace and three rings off of her and ran away. She told officers that the jewelry was all fake.

The man is described as having a disheveled appearance and being in his mid-30s. He has mid-length hair, a beard and a scar above the right side of his upper lip.

He was wearing a gray shirt and sweatpants, black sandals and white socks at the time of the incident.
