Youngstown State University pairs students with employers

YSU Career Fair

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Sometimes, the toughest part of finding work is making a connection with an employer.

Wednesday, Youngstown State University’s Fall Career Fair made that connection easy.

Ninety-two employers from local, regional and national companies talked to students about internships as well as part-time and full-time positions. The career fair was open to all YSU students and alumni, and this one included students from all majors.

“This is a very important piece for our students on two levels: One, to start networking in order to eventually get employed, whether it’s for an internship or full-time professional job, or actually to get employed. This is how we connect our students to jobs in the future,” said Christina Hardy, of YSU’s Career and Academic Services department.

The unemployment rate in Ohio for people with a bachelor’s degree is 2.8 percent, while it’s 7.5 percent for people with just a high school diploma.
