BROOKFIELD, Ohio (WYTV) – A Brookfield man has been indicted on charges related to hitting a teen on Cleveland Street in June and then leaving the scene.

Ronald Sanata is charged with failure to stop after an accident and tampering with evidence, according to a secret indictment filed earlier this month.

Investigators say Sanata struck 19-year-old Tyrone Cornish, who was walking with his girlfriend around 11 p.m. They say he then left the area.

Police said Sanata admitted to remembering hitting “something,” and police believed alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Police say the couple was walking with traffic, not against it when they were struck.

Sanata appeared in court on October 18, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges. Bond was set at $150,000, and a pretrial was set for October 24 in Trumbull County Court of Common Pleas.
