Girard, OH (WYTV) – Student-athletes have a lot on their plate, but Makayla Trebella makes it all look it easy. She’s a 4 sport athlete at Girard and she just won the State Award for Wendy’s High School Heisman, just a few reasons why Makayla is our Student Athlete of the Week.
“I’m really competitive,” said Trebella. “I just love to work hard and get better at anything I possibly can.”
Makayla never backs down from a challenge. She’s a do-it-all athlete at Girard…volleyball, track, cheerleading, and basketball. Get this, she’ll graduate with 14 varsity letters.
“I like don’t like being bored, I like being busy all the time so new challenges are amazing for me,” she said. “I love to work hard and accomplish my goals all the time.”
And Makayla has met those goals. She holds the school’s all-time digs record and is an All-Ohioan in basketball and track.
“The commitment and the hard work that I put in I just think that it will pay off eventually and so I put the hard work in.”
That hard work is just as evident in her schoolwork. Makayla ranks 1st in her senior class with a 4.0 GPA.
“I do spend hours upon us hours of homework at night. Even before a game, I’ll work on my homework, then I’ll have a game and after, I’ll continue to do homework.”
On top of school and sports, Makayla is also a member of National Honor Society and Secretary of Student Council.
“I want to be remembered as a person who just never gave up on getting better.”
