Man charged with assaulting Brookfield police chief

BROOKFIELD, Ohio (WYTV) – Police say Brookfield’s chief was assaulted during an investigation of fraudulent checks at Mr. D’s Food Fair.

Police said Silka Money Sanders, 27, of Sharon, tried to cash a fraudulent payroll check at the grocery store on Wednesday. She was charged with theft, according to a police report.

A woman who was with Sanders, identified as 23-year-old Jasmine Austin, of Farrell, was also charged with theft.

Officers went to question the driver of the vehicle that drove Sanders and Austin to the store. The woman, 23-year-old Gail Hopson, was arrested on a warrant and charged with criminal tools.

During the investigation, police said the passenger, 29-year-old Raheem Brantley, assaulted Brookfield Police Chief Daniel Faustino and ran from the area. He was arrested in the parking lot of an apartment building on Warren-Sharon Road and charged with assault, resisting arrest and complicity.
