WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – More than 30 hospital departments submitted pumpkin entries for St. Joseph Warren Hospital’s Third Annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest that kicked off the hospital’s United Way of Trumbull County annual campaign.

The pumpkins have been on display in the hospital’s main lobby for about three days. Visitors and staff members could purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win their favorite decorated pumpkin.

Nine judges from the community voted, and the following four hospital departments received awards:

  • PACU/Peri Op received the People’s Choice Award for Ohio Buckeye threesome.
  • The Transport Department was awarded Judges’ Choice First Place for Grimy Green.
  • 3 Surgical was awarded Judges’ Choice Runner Up for Carmel Apple.
  • Pharmacy received Judges’ Choice Second Runner Up for Pretty as a Peacock.

Steven Pavlak, manager of Respiratory Services and United Way campaign coordinator, said the pumpkin contest is one of two events that the hospital participates in to support the United Way.

“The other is United Way at Work, which is a day that we and other businesses come together with United Way to complete outdoor projects for seniors and others who need additional help with their properties,” he said.
