Series Note: For the 16th year in a row, West Branch will meet Salem. During that time frame, the Warriors have won 9 of their 15 contests with the Quakers. However, in recent memory, Salem has won 5 of the last 7. Four of their last 7 meetings have resulted in matchups which have been decided by 7 points or less.

Last Meeting: The Quakers scored the game’s final 21-points to rally to knock off the Warriors, 21-14, and secure a 9-win regular season. Matt Weingart connected on two fourth-quarter touchdown passes to give Salem the lead for good (21-14) with just over 90 seconds remaining. Jake Humeniuk pulled in a 28-yard catch to tie the game at 14. Then, D.J. Pullie hauled in a 17-yard pass play from Weingart to seal the deal.

Game Notes: Salem saw their three-game win streak snapped by Louisville this past Friday, 46-27. The Quakers fell behind 33-13 in the first half en route to their first loss since September 23. The Leopards gained 206 rushing yards against Salem’s defense. The Quakers’ junior quarterback Mitch Davidson threw for nearly 300 yards as he completed 15 tosses to Jake Humeniuk for 230 stripes.

Since beginning the season with a 3-2 mark; the Warriors have stumbled down the stretch losing three of their last four to teams who have combined for a 20-7 record (Alliance, Louisville, Marlington).

In week nine, West Branch almost knocked off unbeaten Marlington before suffering a 21-13 loss. Trailing by 1 with under 2 minutes to play (14-13), the Warriors struggled to slow down the Dukes’ Jaq Sampson as he ran 40 yards to pay dirt with 1:21 remaining to seal the victory for Marlington. Sampson gained 267 yards on 35 carries (2 TDs). Warrior running back Rob Lozier rushed for 167 yards on 23 attempts (TD).

Both Salem and West Branch will not qualify for the Division IV playoffs this year.
