HUBBARD, Ohio (WYTV) – A car ended up in a lake Tuesday afternoon at a Hubbard campground.

Police said a teenage driver was traveling on Chestnut Ridge Road when he lost control of the car. The driver said his brakes locked up, causing him to drive into the lake at the Chestnut Ridge Campgrounds.

He was able to get out with only minor injuries to his hand. According to a witness, one of the police officers helped him out of the water.

There were no other passengers in the car.

Hazmat was on the scene around 4:15 p.m. The Brookfield Township Fire Department went out in boats to put booms in the lake to absorb oil from the car.

The fire chief said he doesn’t expect there to be an environmental impact and the oil should be gone in a few days.
