Austintown School Board puts off superintendent contract decision

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – The Austintown School Board decided to table the issue of whether or not to extend Superintendent Vince Colaluca’s contract.

At a meeting Thursday night, about 300 people packed into Fitch High School’s cafeteria.

The board considered extending Colaluca’s contract, which expires at the end of 2017. The extension would renew his contract into 2020.

Nine people spoke out against the extension, including Mandy Richmond, who presented a petition with 1,500 signatures of people who also want Colaluca out.

The only person who spoke in favor of Colaluca was Assistant Superintendent Jeremy Batchelor.

In the end, the board decided by a 5 to 0 vote to table the issue and make the decision at a later date.
