Trumbull County 911 demolition

WARREN, Ohio (WYTV) – An old eyesore in Trumbull County is finally coming down.

Demolition started Thursday morning on the former Sheriff’s Office and 911 building on Panther Drive in Warren.

It took the county years to get to the point where the building could be torn down due to major roof and structural issues.

Commissioners say it’s important that the county sets a good example when it comes to abandoned and blighted buildings.

“Whenever we can be proactive and try to eliminate blight that causes a public health and safety issue, we’re going to try to do that. We’re the leaders of the community, as far as the public sector, and that’s what today’s all about,” said Trumbull County Commissioner Mauro Cantalamessa.

Commissioners say they saved money by doing the demolition work in-house instead of hiring it out. County employees and the Highway Department will be tearing down the building.
