YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WYTV) – Children in Youngstown were seeing stars Thursday.

The PNC Grow Up Great program brought an inflatable, mobile planetarium dome to William Holmes McGuffey Elementary School. A show went along with the program, teaching young kids about astronomy at a level that’s easy for them to understand.

Sesame Workshop created the program featuring Big Bird and Elmo, along with their friend from China, Who Who Tzu.

“It’s a great way to teach kids about the stars, the suns, the planets, but also with the idea that, although we may be different, we’re also all growing up under one big sky,” said Ryan Pastore, of PNC Bank.

Thirty-five kids can fit into the inflatable dome at one time. The stars shoot overhead and Sesame characters use their imagination to take them on a trip to the moon.
