CANFIELD, Ohio (WYTV) – They may be too young to count as eligible voters, but kids at Canfield Village Middle School hit the polls on Friday.

The Mahoning County Board of Elections set up actual voting machines at the school.

Students in grades five through eight were able to pick their choice for president and vice president. They’re also getting a lesson in Democracy and how the whole process works, according to Dr. Naseeb Kaleel.

“You know, we’re not just voting for presidents here. We’re voting for local candidates. We’re voting for Senate, House, just everybody that’s running out there. It affects all of us. We the people,” Kaleel said.
