Voland impresses in Jackson-Milton’s win

Jackson-Milton scored 30 unanswered points tonight after falling behind early.

NORTH JACKSON, Ohio (WYTV) – Jonathon Voland threw for 2 touchdowns, ran one in as well and even kicked a field goal in Jackson-Milton’s 30-7 win over Mineral Ridge on senior night. Voland ran for 125 yards and threw for 222 on 6 of 13 passing. The Blue Jays gained 584 yards of total offense.

Jackson-Milton’s Noah Laster scored a pair of touchdowns within four minutes of each other in the second quarter. Number 11 gained 156 yards rushing and another 75 receiving. Laster, over the past two years, has caught 93 passes for 1274 yards and 11 scores through the air.

For the season, Jackson-Milton was +2 in the turnover ratio entering tonight. Ridge turned the ball over 3 times compared to 1 by the Jays.

The Blue Jays have now posted 23 wins in the past four seasons (2013-16) which has included three winning campaigns (2013: 6-4; 2015: 7-4; 2016: 7-3). Jackson-Milton has also finished with a winning record in league play (2015: 3-2; 2016: 3-2) for the first time since 1991 (4-2) to 1992 (5-1).

Mineral Ridge (2-8) fell for the third consecutive game to end the season. The Rams accounted for 119 yards rushing in the game.
